not so nice for some of the defendants.

Are all redactions completely at the behest of the defense attorneys? If so, what would prevent them from redacting everything, or almost everything? Do defense attorneys have a right to ask for filings from the prosecution to be redacted?

Would things entered into evidence be available to the public?

Wouldn't it be a very simple thing with word processors or whatever you use for typing up filings to just highlight whatever you want redacted with black ink?
