This was a huge step up in competition for us and to lead the #11 team at halftime was great to see. We probably don’t have the talent and size to beat a top 15 type team this year, but that’s not the goal this year, at least not for me.
If we keep improving I think the ceiling for this team is finishing somewhere in the 5-6 range in the SEC standings, and getting a solid seed for the NCAA tournament, not just sneaking in as a bubble team.
The SEC is wide open this year after the top 3 teams. I’ve never seen this much apparent parity for the “middle” of the conference, with 9 teams capable of finishing anywhere from 4-12 in the standings. The main reason for that is traditional powers Kentucky, TAMU and Miss St, all top 15 type programs just a few years ago, have all fallen off and returned to the middle of the pack, at least for now.
