negatives surrounding our program (lack of rabid fan support, limited in-state talent on an annual basis, competition from pro sports teams, the whole 2015 BLM fiasco, etc., etc., etc.), one would think our AD, university president and BoC would realize they would have to pay whatever it took to hire a proven winner and recruiter versus a virtual rookie head coach. Instead, they took a gamble on an unproven head coach with absolutely no experience in building or re-building a program.
Ole Miss, LSU, Tennessee and even Florida hired coaches with multiple years of head coaching experience. Ole Miss was smart enough to let Kiffin learn his trade at other stops before offering him their head coaching job. Same with TN and LSU. Even Napier at Florida had four years of head coaching experience at Louisiana, where he was conference coach of the year twice.
