Got laid off two years ago on Halloween at 51. Got a decent package but subbed high school while looking for a new gig. Pandemic hit, so I did nothing really for a few months. School started back up and wife and I figured we were in good enough shape for me to get a full time job at school. So I do this, coach high school baseball in the spring and work at a golf course in the summer. Zero stress.
About a month after being laid off, I heard my daughters tell my wife I was in a much better mood since I lost my job. Kinda hit me hard. Made the right decision to not go back.
