Things seem to have been slowly shifting on the geopolitical scene for quite some time. Perhaps it will be like the shifting of tectonic plates. Slow movements until all hell breaks loose. Or not.
At this point it's speculation. Many such speculations in the past have proven wrong. Japan was the rising superpower not so long ago, but things haven't panned out as well for them as many prognosticators had predicted.
