Since the beginning of their offensive, the AFU has released no casualty figures. One can safely assume their losses have been significantly greater, likely several times the previously reported 1,000 per day. During this offensive Ukrainian forces are not limited to static defense and the relative protection of the trench lines and bunkers. They are exposed and unprotected, moving out across the open steppes. Their combat vehicles and all other transportation are exposed, as well. They do not enjoy air superiority or anything close to parity in artillery. It goes without saying, the need for fresh soldiers to replace the multiple thousands of losses over the four to five days of this offensive has severely stretched the AFU.
