The question isn't only whether people who break the law should be punished, the question is also why trespassing at the US Capitol gets you months in solitary confinement in a shjt hole of a prison in Washington DC, and rioting in the streets with a BLM flag tearing down statues and throwing bricks at cops, gets you bailed out by the vice president of the United States with no further recrimination.

Equal justice means equal punishment for similar crimes.
