According to how it's been explained:
-run a team with a specific goal (i.e. build a moat of secure communication around engineering teams working on the Trident Missile Submarine using archaic code).
-If successful, move up to run a larger project, and on into management (including them paying for an MBA). Continue to advance depending on the success of projects managed. Has the opportunity to work with private sector clients as well as DOD/DOE.
He loves the work, people he works with, flexibility of WFH, opportunity for advancement & making more $ than 90% of his peers.
