It's that simple. Their analysis begins and ends with what they think they see and nothing more.

This is the perfect example. Fatrat apparently thinks the US government is Santa Claus and just likes to give away money for no reason. There's no ulterior motives behind any of it.

As a corollary, it's just magic that we have the most say when it comes to just about everything in geopolitics.

Thus, the analysis of foreign aid is whether the aid given matches our goals around the world, and whether that money could be better spent elsewhere.

Even when we give humanitarian aid it's often with the parallel goal of preventing instability in the region where the aid is given. As an example, Somalia.

To me the question is should we often be giving more or shifting aid to other places. For example, I would shift money away from places like Israel and to Africa, where China has wisely taken upon itself to begin mafia style loansharking to countries there, offering to build large capital projects in exchange for mining rights, military presence and so on.

South America is next. It never ends.
