but I have to take issue with a false premise underlying your assertion, to wit, that Catholics are not Christians.
I think it is similar to the way that people in the US are called "Americans", when in fact that we're really a subset of all people living in the Americas. Canadians and South Americans and those living in Central American countries could consider themselves Americans.
It is a little silly to claim that members of the Church founded by Our Lord Jesus Christ are not in fact Christians. They are the 1st Christians. Indeed they have the prime claim to be called "Christians" and always have been. Some of course, have left the Church voluntarily or otherwise, but that is a separate issue.
Catholics were the human authors of the New Testament, of course, though they were guided by the Holy Spirit.
