There is nothing wrong with researching alternative power methods. Even today, solar and wind have a place. None of us are against using alternative power sources, but the reality is none of these is ready for widespread use at this time.
What we are against is ending fossil fuel use before any of these other things are ready for prime time, and they're not. Once something is really ready it will be adopted, but that means financially feasible (and that has to be proven and not based on spurious theories) and environmentally feasible (which is what the OP is talking about that has been ignored by the electric vehicle people).
