agent, had that been the case, would not have indicated whether the FBI was involved in trying to infiltrate any alleged criminal organizations.

If that instigator was some Joe Blow off the street, it would not give any indication whether the FBI was completely absent from the scene or had dozens of agents there.

You seem to think that the instigator was in fact and FBI agent. In that case you are right, disclosing that fact would reveal FBI tactics.

Or she could have lied to the Senate and the American people, which the FBI seems to do all too often.
