I still think I prefer "cads" because it covers all manners of ill-mannered, deceitful and selfish intentions whereas "scoundrels" seems to primarily encompass swindlers and thiefs.

cad

noun

A man whose behavior is unprincipled or dishonorable.
A young fellow of the town or vicinage who hangs about a college or university and does chance services for the collegians.
A boy, a fellow: a general term of slight contempt applied originally to various classes of persons of a low grade.

scoundrel

A villain; a rogue.
A base, mean, worthless fellow; a rascal; a low villain; a man without honor or virtue.
Synonyms Knave, rogue, cheat, swindler, sharper.
