the time & they had on someone from an organization that had been quite vociferous in warning them what would happen for months (or maybe longer) as they shut down the reliable fossil fuel plants to ramp up to the percentages of green energy demanded by the liberals.
There was also some human failure involved, but the underlying problem was the inherent unreliability of solar and wind power. That was exacerbated in a state like Texas that has very little natural gas heat. They rely on electric heaters for the rare cold weather that comes their way.
The human error was when the operators saw that the infrastructure could not generate enough electricity to meet demand and didn't start rolling blackouts in select areas soon enough. Their excessive delay caused some of the equipment to blow and plants shut down when they were needed most.
To add insult to injury when they finally reacted they foolishly shut down power in areas where power plants were located and shut down the power plants themselves making an already terrible situation horrific.
