windows high enough that shooters couldn't reach through to unlock the door. I've seen windows in schools with thatched wiring in them that would appear to eliminate the possibility of reaching through a broken window.

fwiw, I would certainly feel far safer in a room with a locked door even if a shooter could shoot through a window in the door than in one he could easily walk into and casually walk around shooting unarmed victims at his leisure.
