our throats is political at this point.

It's not because it's "convenient" because we know charging an EV is going to be a hassle.

It's not because it's "Saving energy" because the amount of carbon to build the car, mine and refine the lithium, and produce the electricity to charge it is purposefully overlooked by the liberals.
