to implement governmental demands upon people to be chipped in order to buy or sell has been proceeding forward for some time now.
Should they ever decide to do so there are no technological barriers to prevent them from doing it.
There are also obviously significant incentives for them to do so, and many have been working towards eliminating the use of cash for some time now.
Our government and others have also been working on digital forms of cash as a replacement for individual currencies such as the dollar for some time now as well. Of course, they could implement a system with the banking system we currently have, but a new, worldwide digital currency would help make the transition seem even more logical and necessary.
That is most certainly a political issue.
