ALL teams play good D today and almost exactly the same way. The big differences are in the player's athletic ability and quickness, with the only real exception is if a team is in true zone but that is now very rare.
Offense is coached a bit differently, which is where CM fell down. He never seemed to get the hang of it.
Something I would like to see in D is for players to be coached in anticipating passes and improving their steals. Very few do that it seems, especially in close games at the end. When a perimeter player is passing to another on the outside it is often pretty obvious where the pass is going. I think more attempts at a steal should be made. That might also apply to a longer lob to the inside.
