watched indians kill and scalp his entire family when he was 8ish. The only reason they didn't kill him was he was working in the field when they came and he hid.

He swore he'd kill 100 Indians as revenge. He killed 97 and then died of some disease (maybe small pox). The story is that some years latter some indians dug him up to desecrate his body and they contracted whatever killed him and latter died so he got his 100.

He was pretty famous back in the day before killing indians stopped being cool. Had a big monument built to him.
