The blood supply is extremely critically low. He can't get blood because certain # is 7.5, and they won't give it to him til that # drops to 6.0. It's supposed to be 20 something.
He needs O+ or O- blood from people who haven't been vaxed. Targeted donations are allowed, but there are extra hoops you have to jump through. You can't go to just any blood bank. You have to go to one of the designated sites and you have to set it up in advance.
He was in the navy, and thinks it's the result of a spill on board a sub.
Neither is overweight or has just sat around getting no exercise.
