for surgeons or other health care professionals who have high quality masks and know how to use them correctly, and even more especially in certain high risk situations.
With regards to airlines, I think they should have a right to set whatever rules they want and the government should make whatever information and data available to them and to everyone else, but in the current situation it doesn't seem reasonable to me for airlines to be mandating them.
If they had enough flights, I could also see them having some flights with masks mandatory & others where they're optional.
But if the science says they're marginally effective if at all, and the virus isn't much more deadly than a lot of other diseases in the wild... especially for those who have already had the disease and recovered &/or for those who have already been triple vaccinated for it, why the crazy insistence on them?
They would probably have far more effective control in improving the air filtering system in the plane. People have ultraviolet lights to filter water for their exotic fish that kills bacteria & inactivates viruses, why not do that for the air filtration systems on planes? I would think they could also vent some of the air out & bring in some fresh air on a rotating basis to keep any viral loads in the air to relatively low levels even is someone onboard happened to be sick.
