and year 2 it was SEC opponents (all with far better rosters), a road loss in overtime to an ACC opponent, and an exhibition bowl game in which half our starters were out.

You're oversimplified "1 game below .500" analysis is the problem. You ignore the opponents and what was inherited. You also seem to be ignoring the new reality of "NIL" and transfer free agency, which Drink has navigated extremely well so far considering the lack of NIL support he gets from fans/boosters. As I'm sure you know, the school/coach/AD *cannot* be involved in NIL.
