That if the FBI cared about their reputation (and it was the truth) they'd be incentivized to say, "no there weren't any agents encouraging citizens to commit crimes. That's absurd as we're a law enforcement agency focused on investigating and preventing crimes, not encouraging the commission of the same"

It would also seem that if there were agents participating and the spokesperson was interested in not perjuring herself...we would get the answer we got.
