home schooling was 'out there'. Some people did it but of course the consensus was it would retard their social development.
Now as a grandparent I wouldn't mind one bit if my kids home schooled their kids.
Its much more acceptable now, there are co-opts all around that help out, and of course the exposure to all the crap in the culture is lessened. Also even Catholic schools that my kids went to aren't immune from all the junk out there. Home school kids do better academically on testing ect now also.
It'll be tricky, obviously not my kids, but I wouldn't mind if they homeschooled.
