is essentially the equivalent of self defense for the person being infringed upon.....not a new infringement. It does not take much intelligence to figure that out.

I would say if he continued to beat him up and kill him when he had gotten the purse back (when the infringement was over), then it would be an infringement at that point, unless he attacked again.
