When we do decide to move on from Cuonzo, just like no other SEC program would be handcuffed to a failing revenue sport head coach due to a financial contract, I hope we to some degree take an SEC type of approach in finding his replacement.
The candidates shouldn't come from up and comers, retreads, or people with past associations to MU. We should survey the national landscape and make a list of the top coaches not at an SEC/B1G/ACC program and simply go take the coach we desire from them. That is what being in the SEC is supposed to be about. No settling, no cost saving, no eliminating unrealistic options. If MU wants to actually be good at basketball again we are in the conference that allows us the resources and prestige and national exposure to do it. We just have to act like it.
