position is completely different, with completely different responsibilities.
Maybe in 10 years he'll be good. Today, he looks completely overmatched.
Just about the only good thing he has done is win some recruiting headlines --- but those are just hypotheticals.
So far, he has zero players from his star-studded bat signals making any real positive contributions.
And we've seen plenty of programs recruit top-25 classes on paper, only to see the program limp along at 4-8, 6-7 seasons (looking at Texas, Nebraska, Tennessee, Florida State, etc.)
Class rankings mean nothing right now.
When Pinkel took over Larry's Smith dumpster fire, the program got immediately better in all facets.
Yes, the recruiting got immediately better in Pinkel's first class (and landing Damien Nash was huge). He also had an unknown in that class named Brad Smith.
But it was the actual football on the field that was better.
Penalties were down. Turnover margin was top 15 in the nation that very first year (something he promised would happen under his watch).
They were clearly becoming a more sound fundamental team under Pinkel on offense, defense and special teams --- even with a bunch of slow, poor larry recruits.
What we've seen from this Mizzou program for 8 straight games going back to last year, is hideous.
They are totally undisciplined.
People can say all they want about Wilks, but he didn't have three holding penalties on offense on the very first drive of that game.
And he wasn't the coordinator of a defense in 2020 that gave up 48, 49 and 51 points the last three weeks of the season, while giving up 300+ yards rushing to both Arkansas and Georgia.
These issues existed last year.
Regardless of what you think Odom did or didn't leave Drink to work with, the program should be getting a little better every single week.
And they are getting worse and worse and worse since Week 8 last season.
Meanwhile, Drink was busy running his mouth off, trolling other SEC coaches and trying to get cute for press headlines.
Does he realize he is 0-4 in his last 4 SEC contests, and only 1 of those games was to an SEC elite team.
Three losses to programs like Mississippi State, Kentucky and Tennessee.
Drink has a big problem, because this program doesn't even appear to be trying at times.
They come out the gates looking unprepared week after week under Drinkowitz, always working from behind.
They are playing undisciplined.
They don't tackle.
For those trying to pin this on Odom... I ask you one scenario:
What the hell does Ennis Rakestraw not producing a lick this year and not even giving effort on plays, have to do with Odom?
And if that one player and that **** poor effort we saw yesterday doesn't ring alarm bells to you about Drinkowitz' players and his coaching, then you are simply being ignorant to be ignorant.
