would be watching the SEC playoffs.

And that's the primary market for college football.

You'd have more from California, New York, and the Rust Belt interested in the "alliance" playoff, but those are either *small* or *weak* CFB markets.

I think viewership of an SEC-playoff (which would likely determine the national champion) could easily double that of the so-called "alliance".
