schools to become football powers.
An expanded Big 12 that adds schools like UCF, BYU, Houston, Cincy, Memphis, Boise, etc, would be considered a P5 conference.
They would be the 5th best conference in the nation, clearly ahead of MWC and AAC by a long shot. In fact, it would be the biggest separation between the P5 and G5 ever, because the AAC and MWC might be stripped of its strongest programs and markets.
There would be many years where the new Big 12 would be better competitively than the PAC12, even if they never make as much TV revenue.
Would be a very strong football and basketball conference still.
And for schools like Oklahoma State and Kansas State, they have a chance to become a football power. They've had some great runs, but always ran into the Buzzsaw of Nebraska or Oklahoma.
The name of the game is winning conference titles, and with OU, Texas and Nebraska out of the conference, it is wide open for the taking.
Some school or two, is going to fill that void and become an annual Big 12 Conference champion. That will give them a boost they've never seen before.
And with that newfound success, they can make themselves a football power that eventually gets an invite to a P5.
As things stand today, I think a reconstituted Big 12 spells good news for Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Iowa State, TCU, West Virginia or Baylor.
Kansas is still the worst P5 program in existence right now, and doesn't appear at all committed to changing that.
If KU had any commitment to football, they'd be building a new or renovated stadium right now
