possibly accomplish whatever goals we had in Afghan. Just a look at recent history there would tell us that. And engaging them there so we wouldn't have to fight them here made zero sense. They can still pull off terrorist acts in the US whether we're fighting them there or not. In fact, after 9-11 I would have bet money there would have been some horrible such act, which seems rather easy to me, especially with chemical or biological methods. That could be worse than explosives.
