in the air for a pretty long time and can travel some distance. It could be difficult to determine who gave who what.

Similarly, droplets that fall on doorknobs, hand towels etc. can contain viruses that may last for days, again making it difficult if not impossible to verify for certain who gave who what when.

Perhaps it was just a coincidence. Cases were already rising before the party. But then again having hundreds of people from around the country/world come into Martha's vineyard may well have ramped up the number of cases.

They were having pre-parties days before the big bash. It is certainly possible that one or more of the newcomers were infectious and spread covid while there.
