fail when the point being discussed has even one level of nuance.
For example, we have case history in the United States that clearly establishes EMERGENCIES can't be used for suspending rights.
Liberals can't process that.
If you say, failure to get the vaccination will cause deaths, thus we must vaccinate everyone - they'll go for it.
It seems obvious that the 'greater good' would be served by everyone being forced to vaccinate.
The idea that the greater good is served through freedom, and that that freedom includes the right to be a carrier for a lethal virus, doesn't compute.
Again at the heart of liberalism you have the belief that men are basically evil, and therefore must be forcibly controlled by government.
The heart of conservatism is the opposite, that men are basically good and therefore should be left to manage their own affairs.
It doesn't occur to liberals that:
1. If a disease is truly lethal, people will take provision to avoid it.
2. If a vaccine is truly safe and effective, people will receive it.
3. All previous pandemics have been handled successfully by people acting in the interests of their own survival.
4. Thus, this pandemic is no different.
Finally, liberals, because they believe in rule by force, have a permanent blind spot in regards to the catastrophic failures of 'rule by force'. No matter how many times this strategy fails, they're sure it'll work next time.
