we are no longer in the free and open atmosphere that scientists and doctors enjoyed not all that many years ago.

Politics now plays a huge role in pressuring the scientists and doctors to toe the line on the narrative and the media helps in the pressuring and in ensuring that the truth is suppressed when the Deep State feels it needs to be suppressed.
