(A) The playoff expanding to 12 teams (which makes the SEC's competitiveness less of an obstacle).

(B) The networks rejecting the Big12's request to proactively renegotiate a contract extension (only months after the SEC landed a new $300M/year contract).

(C) The "Big 12 Network" being on the "ESPN+" streaming service, which has increased its fees TWICE this year (get out your wallets and your Roku's, Big12 fans!).

(D) Transfer free-agency (specifically, the transfer portal & elimination of the mandatory one-year "redshirting" requirement).

(E) NIL.


Obviously, the landscape has changed a lot in the last year and the timing of this move is NOT a coincidence. The question is which of those factors played the greatest role in driving this.
