The debate isn't about teaching history, it's about injecting "critical race theory" and other left-wing identity politics into the curriculum, which is pure poison that racializes and indoctrinates our youth.
It's an ideology that teaches kids to view themselves (and one another) as victims and oppressors. It puts racial identity politics at the very center of the curriculum.
A small fraction of the curriculum should be American History, including the Civil War and slavery... teach it, but don't propagandize it.
