in my opinion, serve a very useful purpose. They allow for the free exchange of ideas, unencumbered by the fear of retribution or retaliation. A true bastion of free speech.
The fact that there is rarely meaningful debate or even dialogue, does not negate the fact that disparate ideas are expressed. That is healthy.
Regrettably, it includes vermin like ace and JG. Two morons who diminish the board with their, “look at me“ incendiary posts designed not to generate discussion or express their beliefs, but to provoke and to trigger others. Allowing those smug inarticulate buffoons to sit back and observe.
Which frankly, is about all they are capable of doing.
The rest of the posters, even the stupid ones serve a purpose as they define the parameters and boundaries of logical thought.
Pseudo-intellectuals enjoy flexing their self proclaimed superiority by condemning these boards as worthless and beneath them, but they provide a valuable outlet for ideas, even ill formed and misguided ones.
