The local billionaire owner sold the team to out of towner non-billionaires because the city wouldn't give him taxpayer money... The out of towners promised to keep the team in Seattle ONLY if they got the taxpayer money that was refused to the previous owner. Seattle did not give them the taxpayer money either and they left.

No taxpayer money was the root cause for the sale and also the move
