incredible street party. Huge drawing of people from all over.
It was impossible to imagine then that the 40-50 something whitey's who ran and attended those great parties would be the last generation of crackers to truly inhabit in North St Louis in any appreciable numbers.
My aunt and uncle moved off of Claxton avenue in 1975 and it was a war zone even then.
