Instead of focusing on the "news" and each sensational story of the day, try focusing on your own personal philosophy.

Give a good effort to developing a consistent, well-grounded philosophy. Then when the next sensational "news" story arises, review the story in a contemplative manner through the lens of your philosophy rather than in a reactionary manner based on the political commentary of your sources.

You will be happier.
