college basketball regular seasons.

1. 1 and dones
2. Shoe company and AAU cheating
3. Many programs have become revolving doors for coaches
4. Less 3-4 year players due to 1 and dones, more going pro early, and transfers
5. Officiating

I think this stuff has not only hurt the quality of the game to some degree (I think the tourney quality has been good this year), but definitely fans perception of it. Covid obviously did a ton of damage.
