that as a sign of shaky support from the administration. This is what happened to Haith under Alden. Haith wanted an extension, Alden balked, Haith read the tea leaves and bolted for a lesser job (Tulsa) with more years and therefore came out ahead financially.

Sterk is in a tough spot here. CM has been barely good enough to earn another year, but there are many negatives too that granting an extension now seems rather dumb.
