I strongly recommend and episode of "The American Experience" on PBS called "Italians in America". Nearly no group has suffered the denigration, abuse and hatred that Italians felt some 100 + years ago when they landed at Ellis. Far worse really than the Hispanic and Latino communities see today, not that that is a good thing, or God knows recent attacks on Asians too.
