As anyone with children knows, there is no such thing as equal treatment. The best you can ever strive for is fair treatment. If I break the law and my punishment falls within the guidelines available to them then I was treated fairly. Comparing your case to any others' is an exercise in futility because any of a dozen variables could be why you had a different outcome and there is no way to isolate which one it may have been. If in fact it were only one.
