Instantly took a 26-27 team and was 40-24 his first year in 2007, finished ranked #19 in the nation.

Then the next 9 years every year the team was ranked in the top 16 at the end of the year, and in 7/9 years was ranked in the top 12.

To me it’s hard to rank coaching accomplishments in pure team sports vs individual/team sports. Smiths national finishes were of course better than EEs, but is it easier to achieve at that high level in wrestling or harder, since the pool of teams is much smaller?
