Not sure why they did their second one yesterday afternoon, which didn’t take into account some big Sunday games. Could have easily waited until today and it would have been more relevant.

They have the SEC with 6 national seeds in the top 16, but that could change. Here is their seeding right now, minus Sunday games:

1. UConn
2. Stanford
3. TAMU
4. SC
5. NC St
6. Maryland
7. Arizona
8. Baylor
9. Louisville
10. UCLA
11. Georgia
12. Indiana
13. Tennessee
14. Kentucky
15. Oregon
16. Arkansas

Then yesterday Arizona lost to unranked Arizona St, Oregon lost to unranked Oregon St, Kentucky had an awful loss at home to Ole Miss, and in the biggest game of the day TAMU beat SC in College Station.

Kentucky deserves to drop from a 4 seed to a 5 based on the lost to Ole Miss. Oregon is on shakey ground too. Arizona could drop from a 2 seed to a 3. TAMU clinched a 1 seed, no matter what they do in the SEC tourney. I’m thinking SC may have to win the SEC tourney to clinch the last 1 seed, and could be in danger of getting jumped by NC St or Maryland if either wins their conference tourney.

Tennessee and Arky likely clinched their 4 seeds with wins yesterday, and a deep run in the SEC tourney could land either of them a 3 seed. But they will likely face each other in the SEC quarters, and the loser of that game may be sweating a bit. Tennessee might survive a loss in that game, Arky may not, as they are the last team in now. Likewise Georgia is a solid 3 seed but needs to win against Kentucky in the SEC quarters to keep the 3 seed.

What helps Tennessee, Kentucky and Arky right now in their bids for at least a 4 seed is the lack of competition from other teams on the outside right now.

The only real competition comes from #12 Michigan, #13 USF, and #18 WV, since Ohio State is on probation.

Michigan started strong but had a lot of games postponed, and is just 3-3 in their last 6 games. USF had a bad 18 point loss to Houston on Saturday, and WV was whipped by Iowa St last Wednesday by 17. None of them are trending well, but Michigan has a big game this week with Maryland, a win there and they will be in a position to take a 4 seed from one of the three SEC teams currently projected there.
