Mine are pretty complicated too, but nothing I can't handle. I use TaxAct just so I can efile, but it'd be easier for me to use the paper forms. I fight getting the software to do what I want more than anything.
The IRS doesn't scare me. I've had hundreds of dealings with them over the years. They've been wrong every time except once when a client filed/paid late, which we knew. The penalty they assessed was outrageous though and I was able to get them to waive the penalty. It's all about knowing how to deal with them.
