other schools, for example Clemson?...

As I've mentioned recently, our AD budget will soon surpass Clemson's budget (as hard as that is to imagine) thanks to the SEC's new ABC/ESPN deal — at over $130 mil/year.

Yet, Clemson spends over TWICE what we do on football, simply because they allocate a much greater *percentage* of their budget on football. The obvious question is... why don't we do that?

It seems like the smarter approach given that (1) FB is by far the most important sport in terms of both revenue and exposure, and (2) a successful FB program raises the national profile of the school and thus helps the recruiting of *all* programs, including the non-revenue ones... Oklahoma and Wisconsin are prime examples.

Why doesn't our university/AD seem to understand that?
