Local stories describing what happened here in Seattle during the whole thing. Anti-mask leagues, people ignoring that it exists, people afraid of going outside, it's all there.
It was pretty much the same story as today up until the government stopped shutting stuff down after it wasn't burning out of control and just started fining businesses that allowed crowds to form.
Smaller city back then, but I wonder if that response might have been the better path if successfully having a city/economy/country/culture depart the disaster in a reasonable condition was the actual goal.
Hell, probably could have used the same laws from back then to do it, but I'm guessing the people, politicians, and the rest of society might have been a little more reasonable back then.
