1. Obviously a great comeback win. One of the best I can remember considering they were down big late and only had 43 seconds on the clock to score.
2. Bazelak continues to impress. He just does not make a lot of mistakes and for the most part is accurate. Most college corners don't press at the line because and many play several yards off so there's usually a lot of open space on the field. So finding the right receiver and delivering a catchable ball is key. Bazelak does both extremely well. I think he has better touch at this point in his career than everyone I've seen at Mizzou other than Chase Daniel. And he's a sophomore. Love this kid's poise and potential.
3. The targeting call on Bolton is just further proof that the supposedly objective standards of the rule for officials to judge on has slid down to complete subjectivity. It's a violent game and the targeting rule in my view should be there but I'm not sure you can prevent vicious hits like Bolton delivers when he's trying to make a tackle and it's the quarterback's fault that his receiver had to elevate to make a catch. Losing Bolton was nearly a backbreaker and the numbers show it. The Razorbacks went hog wild running the ball right after. Fix the rule.
4. Mevis. Wow. Another kid full of poise and confidence. He made all the difference yesterday.
5. The defense continues to impress with the effort and tenacity they bring to every play. There were quite a few blocks in the back and holds that were not called and yet they still hung in there. Sure they gave up a ton of yards but between losing Bolton for an entire half and a pretty good offensive effort by Arkansas, things could have been worse.
6. Drink's play calling is significantly better and...wiser...than we had under Odom. He knows when to be aggressive through the air and when to be use his backs.
7. Although they didn't put any points up, I also like the balls of Drink near the end of the half still driving and not taking a knee. It shows confidence in his team and especially his QB which only increases their confidence in themselves.
8. Mizzou's lost three games. We'd still lose to Alabama is we played them again. I'm not sure we'd beat Florida but I know we'd give them a better game and we'd for sure beat Tennessee. While you obviously can't play those games again, I feel it's important to recognize the difference in this team now versus then.
9. I like the grit of guys like Parker, Bannister, Turner, our entire secondary. Bannister made some huge catches in this game.
10. Nice to see Hazelton and Chism have great games. Nice pickups by the staff.
