Illinois (which sucks) will still be ranked because they were highly ranked in the pre-season. Conversely, Mizzou (which appears to be Top 25-worthy) will have to claw its way up through the "receiving votes" before it cracks the Top 25, simply because it wasn't gifted with an pre-season ranking from the media.
The rankings should be much more dynamic and open to reshuffling early in the season.
